The playground in Tapachtal has always been very popular with children, because it offers a special offer. From April onwards, children can play here at certain times under the supervision of volunteers. In addition, a summer holiday programme is held every year, in which every child between the ages of 6 and 13 is welcome - for free and without registration.
The playground and its equipment were visibly affected by intensive use and repeatedly made makeshift repairs. So it is not surprising that the playground before the start of the renovation and modernization measures in 2007 in a less attractive condition.
In the context of the federal-state funding program "Social City" many points could be tackled. For this purpose, a participation process was initiated in which children and young people as future users could express their wishes. From the participation finally three, by the topography of the place also spatially from each other separated, topic ranges with different emphasis derivable:
1. revaluation child playground
2. reorganization of the football field
3. youth meeting place
Topographically at highest place of the planning area lie the extensive child play range as well as the water playground. With the repair of the existing showers and water jets and the installation of a new water pump, a significant play content could be returned to the children.
The lower-lying ball field had to be completely renovated. It resembled a mogul track in 2007. Even after short rain showers, it is no longer possible to think of playing football or basketball due to the defective drainage systems.
The half pipe, which has fallen into disrepair on the edge of the landscape conservation area, is making way for a new youth club. This will mark the completion of the redevelopment. Artistically designed shelters in combination with seating edges and a stage transform the former skater facility into a meeting place for young people. With the modelling of remaining ground material, the additional wish for a BMX track could be fulfilled. The location of the meeting point on the path and the open design of the shelters allow the desired social control by passers-by and walkers.
