St. Spiritus is one of the oldest houses in Greifswald. For hundreds of years, encounters have played a decisive role here. Today it houses the socio-cultural centre.

The aim was to make the small inner courtyard usable and interesting for cultural events such as concerts, for the café and the creative workshops.
A particular challenge was to design the monument preservation aspects to be observed at the same time as a handicapped-accessible use.
The existing erratic block paving was reused, whereby the main access routes were designed with red clinker all around. Thus it was reached that the yard can be driven on also with a wheelchair very well.

around the protected head lime trees metal rings with wood support were inserted, which protect on the one hand the root area and serve likewise as seat opportunity.
To create a pleasant and cozy atmosphere, floor spotlights were used under the lime trees.

The courtyard is not accessible with large technology, so that any materials had to be transported through the main access of the socio-cultural center.
