Green C Cologne-Bonn

The open space between the Cologne and Bonn conurbations is acutely threatened in its existence by the sprawling urban fringes. Six affected municipalities have joined forces to develop a joint concept for the preservation of the "Green C". Within the framework of an international competition, strategies for the preservation and further development of this valuable landscape area were developed. The central statement of our office is that the aim is not to create a uniform landscape park with a consistent design, but rather a "landscape park", i.e. a sequence of different landscapes, each with its own character.

These landscapes, strengthened in their uniqueness, are connected by the so-called "Link", a path that is not only a concise connecting line, but also an information carrier for intersecting hiking trails, sights, etc. The Link runs primarily along the route of the "Landscape Park", i.e. a sequence of different landscapes, each with its own character. A special feature of the Link course is the Rhine crossing, which is to be significantly upgraded, especially in terms of local recreation. (1st prize, 2006)
