House garden K Düsseldorf

The residential house is located in the north of Düsseldorf, directly adjacent to the Rhine. The clear, Bauhaus-style residential building by DDJ-Architekten was to find a contrast in the form of soft free forms in the garden, in accordance with the client's wishes. The view of the Rhine and the passing ships was not to be impaired in any way. The terrace was understood as part of the architecture and was therefore clearly and formally placed in front of the building. A cut in the form of a band of grasses dissolves the austerity a little and creates a connection to the adjoining planting in soft forms.

Because of the immediate proximity to the Rhine, a slight breeze can always be felt here, for this reason the idea was born to structure the planting with filigree maidenhair grasses. The light grasses move, the planting becomes alive. Head willows are typical of the Rhine meadows, and several old specimens have been planted here. With their soft shoots they take up a little the characteristic of the grasses, besides, on account of the annual pruning also from the upper spaces the view of the Rhine is always preserved.

The slope down to the river is flooded every year, for this reason the slope was fastened with large-format rock stones, between the rocks conquer plants we lamp cleaner grasses, cushion bellflowers or mint the area. The front garden receives light in the morning, because of this a well screened breakfast place was created here by hedges and rhododendrons.
