The church and parish center were built as an ensemble by architect Jörn Rau in 1979-81 and dedicated in 1981.
The parish has since become a daughter church of St. Ansgar Parish and has boldly embraced the Bereavement Center, founded in 2014, as a fraternal institution of the Archdiocese.
The parish's design spirit has continued into the joint design with architect Andreas Rowold and artist Ricarda Wyrwol.
The urns will be interred in blocks, the light color of which will be incorporated into all new components. Bright islands are thus created in the church interior. In the garden courtyard, a bright space of stone and plant is created. The burial in the columbarium Thomas-Morus-Kirche shows the coexistence of life and death and is the theme of the design.
