A former monastery complex is being transformed into a residential complex for people with disabilities. Since 2007, the landscape park of the monastery complex has been redesigned with the help of various stakeholders. In 2011, a farm and monastery garden was newly created. Here, NABU is dedicated to the preservation and reintroduction of old and forgotten vegetable species. Another attraction is a play and fun area that was created as part of an international workshop with young people.

The facility is inhabited by approximately 139 people aged 18 years and older. The grounds are approximately 3.3 hectares in size. The outdoor facilities no longer meet the needs of the residents. Our office was therefore commissioned to redesign the outdoor area. Tailored to the needs The redesign of the outdoor area was planned in consultation with all parties involved and in consideration of the needs of the residents. Areas have been created which can be used optimally and which allow a variety of experiences. It is planned that the park will be open to residents and visitors alike, so that a dialogue between residents and the public can take place. The overall facility will thus be significantly enhanced and made more attractive for residents, visitors and neighbors. The main entrance is located in the current rear area of the monastery complex. Here, a new open square design with a central pavilion was created, which takes into account the structure of the building and was adapted accordingly. The purpose of the new layout is to transform the landscape park into a new active and rest park. The different areas are arranged according to themes that were developed together with the residents. The sensory garden is a particularly important incentive for people with disabilities to learn and develop their perceptions. The old tree population, the pergola and the existing cemetery as well as the Stations of the Cross will be preserved and included in the redesign. Thus, the overall impression of an old monastery complex remains.
