Following the demolition of a workshop building, a new 2,500 m² break area was created on the roof of the existing underground car park.

The Albstadt vocational school center is located on the edge of the inner city. The open space was designed to create a link between the commercial and home economics school and to form a harmonious transition between the city center and the school. The area serves as a schoolyard and can also be used by the public as a park.

The central design element is a red, square, eight-meter-high steel pavilion. This marks the spatial center of the square and is designed as a meeting point and venue for events. Due to its uniqueness and presence, the cube is also used as the school logo.

Three lawns, which refer to the façade structure, rise slightly inclined from the terrain. They are bordered by walls that can also be used as seating elements. Additional trees and shrubs loosen up the break area and offer a charming place to linger and meet.
