Town square at the Kaisersteg crane promenade

In the former industrial area between Wilhelminenhofstraße and the Spree, typical and recurring open spaces can be identified: two-sided corridors, three-sided plazas, and irregular, mostly triangular open spaces along the banks of the Spree.

Based on this open space typology, a structure of open spaces is proposed for the processing area, which are assigned to the respective dominant spatial elements and support their spatial effect. The areas are related to each other via offsets and steps.

This turns the connection between Wilhelminenhofstraße and the banks of the Spree into a spatial sequence: from the Kranbahnpromenade, along the enclosure of the Schauhallen, via the Stadtplatz and Uferpromenade to the Kaisersteg.
