The open spaces of the tax office in Mönchengladbach are divided into three sections: the parking lot for employees, which is divided by hedges and trees, the forecourt with direct access to the mailbox, and the inner courtyard, which can be seen from the offices and houses the outdoor terrace of the canteen.
The courtyard is criss-crossed by reed grasses in steel-framed, shard-like beds. The color of the grasses changes with the seasons; even a light breeze sets the entire planting into motion, as it were.
Light, yellow-leaved gleditschias (Christ's thorn) overlook the "sea of grasses" and complement the soft color spectrum, which is coordinated with the facades.
In order to ensure the usability of the terrace, large-format slabs of cast stone have been inserted into the cream-coloured chippings in front of the canteen.
The work of art, an eye-catcher in the axis of the foyer, complements the inner courtyard and blends into the situation as if it were a matter of course.
