Quartier Färberstraße Redevelopment of the residential quarter on the former barracks site in Düsseldorf

Neighborhood square as a prelude
The Färberstraße neighborhood will be significantly upgraded by the conversion of the former barracks site into a high-quality residential area. The entire location is given a positive entrée with the Quartiersplatz.

The new opening is formed from the surrounding movement areas and the tree-covered lawn enclosed by it, which offers cross-generational recreation and play opportunities. Benches in light shade under flowering trees, seating areas protected by low hedges, sunny lawns and play areas become the new meeting place in the neighbourhood for young and old. Playing occasions can be found on this green island, accompanied by a variety of seating options. The surrounding paved area is part of the recreation area and also provides access to the buildings.

Tenant gardens are located in front of the ground floor apartments in the east and west at the level of the square - a green frame for the neighbourhood square. To the south, hedge slices in the plaza form the spacers to the private zone of the apartments.

The intimate residential courtyard
In keeping with the scale of the lower apartment buildings to the south, an intimate residential courtyard opens up the buildings. Small-crowned Japanese flowering cherry trees and benches convey a residential character. A small play area and lounge areas are also integrated here.
