Bildungshaus Westpark, Augsburg Comprehensive school with day care centre

The school and after-school care centre for a new residential area are located in the middle of a public park on the site of the former Sheridan barracks.

Newly planted rows of trees complement the valuable old tree population. They frame the school's open spaces with continuous hornbeam hedges broken up into individual blocks. Simple surfaces of concrete, tartan and lawn structure the surfaces and their functions. Seating steps, stairs and ramps differentiate the spaces, some of which are covered with trees, on different levels. The lowest level connects to the lowered assembly hall.
The partial spaces follow the principle of a parcellation, as can be read in the old orchard in the northwest of the complex. This parcel becomes the didactic school garden.
The main entrance area of the "Grasinger Platz" in the south opens the space to the park.
