The view from the terrace of the garden hall shows the park scene of the earliest "English" park in Mecklenburg, which was gradually restored over the course of several years. With the monument conservation objective, implementation of immediate measures and extensive reconstruction work, the landscape architecture office Stefan Pulkenat has been planning the restoration of the 22-hectare historic park on behalf of the Betrieb für Bau und Liegenschaften M-V, Schwerin since 1996.
The preservation of the "English Garden" Hohenzieritz as a garden monument of the late 18th century includes the restoration of the park enclosure in a first construction phase. Parts consist of a freestanding boulder wall, other areas are made as AHA wall.
The term AHA refers to an invisible park boundary. A wall or fence is inserted into sloping terrain or a ditch. This allows an unobstructed view of the surrounding landscape.
A park boundary with a dry stone wall of boulders with a height of about 0.90 to 1.20 m in the length of 1,900 m is a unique feature for the castle park Hohenzieritz. The reconstruction follows the original course, which was still partly visible and, if unclear, was determined by search excavations. Built as a heavyweight wall without mortar or concrete additions, the elevation corresponds to cyclopean masonry. To improve the face and joint pattern, some of the stones were split and hewn to provide a straight edge to the face. The walls are inclined with an angle of attack of about 12 degrees. The material comes mainly from the region Jarmen-Neubrandenburg-Neustrelitz.
