"The tradition builds a new home"! Under
this motto, the new building of the Mercedes-Benz-
Museum is located at an exposed height, about 6m above the
surrounding areas. This creates
sloping levels and tense open spaces throughout. The
Museum Square is planned as a continuous, representative
place. Partially overlaid with oaks, it is designed in
a dark natural stone pavement that is vehicular
able. The slabs are laid as narrow slips
in varying lengths. In darkness
low light sources in different
hues highlight and darkly leave
areas. Hardly perceptible during the day, they
allow the museum body
to come fully into its own.
