The Small Garden Show was based on a decentralized exhibition concept. The main axis of the garden show took the form of a circular route between the core zone of the garden show, the newly created town park, via the historic town center to individual areas full of character in and around Waldkirchen.
As the main area of the garden show, an urban park was created on the south-eastern edge of the old town, along the Wäschlbach valley. Along the elongated meadow area, the varied terrain topography and the different landscape spaces were used to develop differentiated garden spaces and to make the magnificent views of the landscape tangible. The garden show created an urban open space system that links the city park with the neighboring residential structures via new pathways.
In addition to the urban open spaces such as the market square, cemetery and old town, the Bellevue garden complex presented the character of the town of Waldkirchen as a further focal point.
