The planning area is located in Frankfurt's city centre, on the areas adjacent to the former Horten shopping centre between Franz-Mehring-Strasse and Lennépark and Heilbronner Strasse in the south.
After the demolition of the former Horten shopping centre in the 1970s and the subsequent redevelopment of the site with the "Konsument-Warenhaus" department store, the eastern forecourt and the surrounding areas facing Heilbronner Strasse were to be redesigned. The planning of the square, which should offer enough space for a market and end at the historical edge of the Lennépark, was oriented towards the adjacent existing buildings. All elements - the slab strips, the exposed concrete bands, the planting beds and the new tree plantings - continue the design of the Platz der Republik by their vertical alignment to the Heilbronner Straße. The historic edge of the Lenné Park will be reconstructed as far as possible in the area of the planning area. The park path behind it will be historically restored to its former width with a row of linden trees.
