"8. the experience of the city on the waterfront as a unique facility in Berlin is to be decisively improved through the development of water-land relations." (From the guiding principles for the future development of the old town of Köpenick)

Situated between the castle island and Köpenick's old town / Kietz, the generously designed riverside promenade at Frauentog connects town and water. The special atmosphere at the waterfront - sitting and promenading, the view over jetties and ships - can be perceived via newly created visual axes all the way to the center of the old town, thus inviting visitors to the lakeside promenade. Through its clear structuring and restrained choice of materials, the overall design allows for the harmonious connection of a wide variety of "action spaces", which also meet the future functional requirements of a place that is intended to promote tourist development through a variety of attractive uses.
The busy Müggelheimer Strasse is separated by the dense row of plane trees and an open green space; at the same time, when viewed from the water, these become the backdrop for groups of trees, the building and visitors to the lakeside promenade. The existing accesses to the lakeside promenade in the direction of Schlossinsel and Köpenicker Kiez are retained and open up the lakeside in their further, arched course. The edges of this lively main path are designed as rest areas: Seating along the path and on the steps to the water, lingering on the shore terrace, ....
The area around the functional building, which blends harmoniously into the existing topography with its elliptical ground plan, takes on a special significance.
The connection of the path to the castle is generously widened. At this crossroads, the fountain "washerwoman", finds its new location. An evergreen tongue snowball and a new red maple tree form the background.
By selectively placed pole lights and the illuminated trees, lighting elements are achieved in the plant, which fit atmospherically into the historical environment.
