The city of Kusel decided in 2008 to renovate the Walkmühlteich and in the course of the residents to make accessible.
One side of the pond is secured with sheet pile walls and a cast-in-place concrete wall. The other side will be implemented organically with a grass embankment. Two bastions made of gabion walls and a wide stairway to the water complete the shoreline design. Recreational areas will be created for the residents. An old millstone as a water feature picks up the history of the place. The natural stones used come from regional sources. The existing bank planting is supplemented by an attractive perennial planting.
