Vineyard meadows | Southern green corridor Urban development measure Halle Heide-Süd

On the site of the former garrison of the Soviet armed forces
the new district Heide-Süd with apartments, science
and innovation park as well as the new campus of the Martin Luther University
was developed after the withdrawal of the troops. In order to create a connection between Halle-Neustadt and this new district
, an average of 100 meters wide, east-west
extending public open space was created. Due to its generous natural
meadows and a former adjacent vineyard, the name was created: Weinbergwiesen.
For the city as a whole, the facility is an important part of a green system that
connects other local recreation areas with the center.
By designing the Weinbergwiesen as a citizens' park, a clear architectural
space was created, which as a green backbone creates orientation and identity and
anchors the adjacent building areas in the city. Essential ecological components
are the improvement of the fresh air supply of the adjacent residential areas,
a distinctive system of rainwater utilization as well as the preservation and creation
of specific faunistic habitats.
