While the partly already existing granite natural stone paving was mainly used in the central entrance courtyard and around the hospital church, largely level wheelchair-accessible concrete slabs or concrete paving surfaces were provided for all paths. In the area of the historic cemetery and the walkway through the orchard in the east, a mineral concrete surface with a trickle layer provides a near-natural surface. All parking lots received infiltration-friendly surface layers.

The generous provision of benches in front of warm southern facades, in the area of the pergolas and at the entrance area can satisfy the residents' need for variety, observation and communication.
The generous wood-framed sand area awaits use by young and old, residents, staff or visitors.
The renovated historic fountain with the fountain sculpture designed by the sculptor Alfred Kainz, the integration of the renovated natural stone artwork from the former church in the herb garden and the inclusion of the Pattendorf cemetery allow for a variety of uses and reinforce the impression of a generous overall facility from a single mold.
Simple, modern design elements stand naturally next to the historic substance.

An essential design idea is the forward-looking handling of the surface water that accumulates. Insofar as it does not seep away on site, it is either collected in cisterns to the south of the hospital church for the use of service water, or it is channelled via an open gutter system of various types into a plant clarification bed before flowing into the Franzosengraben. Every visitor or resident of the hospital can thus experience the wealth that water represents, especially in the large water basin between the two head buildings in the centre of the new building.

A small cherry avenue leads to the entrance area, where a new herb garden with a simple cross forms the western edge of the courtyard, which was dominated by a chestnut grove in the long term.
In the northwest, a new courtyard is being created between the new building, the replacement building and the renovated historic cemetery, which is enclosed by a horseshoe-shaped pergola with ornamental apple grove and two weeping willows.
Towards the Franzosengraben, a meadow orchard is growing again around the agricultural outbuilding with vitamin-rich, robust native varieties, which are available to the kitchen of the old people's home.
In addition to the woody backdrop, hornbeam hedges provide clear, well-defined spatial edges that facilitate orientation.
Around the new building, colourfully planted perennial beds provide an eye-catcher. They offer residents and guests year-round changing sensory stimuli. Creeper wires for climbing plants are attached to the pergolas at suitable points. The remaining green areas are sown with an easy-care extensive landscape lawn mixture.
In the entrance foyer, a greened plant bed with ground connection provides a friendly atmosphere and a pleasant room climate.
