Daycare center "Kleine Entdecker", Greifswald

A limited urban planning competition was held for this new replacement building, which was won by the Drebing - Ehmke architectural office. The rough concept for the open spaces was part of the competition. The Morgenstern planning office was responsible for the development of service phases 2-9.



The site is located on the railroad tracks just before the entrance to Greifswald station. A wooden noise barrier shields the outdoor area. From a hill, the children can watch the passing trains and use the slope for sliding and tobogganing at the same time.

The equipment for the play groups is made of robinia wood and is custom-made.

A paved area - overgrown with trees - serves as a track for the children.

A prestigious entrance area was created on the street side, with parking spaces for visitors and numerous bicycle parking facilities for young and old.
