Design of the outdoor facilities in the course of the building renovation, 2 courtyards, terrace in front of the refectory, space for events, 103 car parking spaces, structure through tree and hedge planting, equipment
The outdoor facilities of the IT College in Putbus are to be designed in the course of the building renovation. The open space is divided into 2 courtyards between buildings B, C, E and F and buildings D, A, B and the gymnasium. The driveway from the Circus is paved with cobblestones, which will be preserved in this area.
The large open space is unpaved and is currently used primarily for parking. There is still a row of garages and a boiler house between the gymnasium and Building B. Both will be demolished or relocated by the time construction begins.
The design calls for attractive landscaping close to the building, with a focus on the patio in front of the planned dining hall. All entrances will be accessed by separate walkways, and reference will be made to the main entrances in the design.
The site will be articulated by hedge planting.
The current access from Allee Street will be used as a delivery access only. A raised terrace area will front the future refectory. Below the terrace is a tree-lined plaza.
Another plaza will develop in front of the main entrance to Building B. An open space for various festivities and events may be developed in front of Building A.
Access to the parking structure will be provided by one-way traffic from Circus. Reserved parking spaces will be created in front of Building B. The new exit will be created next to Building F. Reserved parking spaces will again be created towards the terrace. A part of the parking area will remain unpaved. A total of 103 parking spaces will be created, 3 of which will be handicapped accessible.
Disabled access to the building is located to the side of the proposed terrace on Building B.
The paving of the areas will be concrete pavers. Drainage joint paving is proposed for the parking spaces. The sidewalk areas are proposed to have a concrete paver with facing or a plain concrete paver with a granite stone walkway.
Large format concrete slabs are proposed for the patio. The patio edging is to be concrete L-stones. Precast panels will also be used for the steps, patio stringers, tree grate edging, and driveway steps to the bike basement.
For the tree lot, plantings of small-crowned trees such as rock pear, Chinese pear, or ornamental cherry are planned. Ornamental apple or field maple may be used for the clipped hedges. Grasses shall be planted in the planting areas. Lawn areas are provided at the buildings. An additional 11 trees will be planted in the parking lot and driveway area.
Sunshades/sails and lighting will be provided separately by the appropriate trades. Bicycle racks are proposed in the area of the main entrance to Building B. Simple wooden and steel seating will be installed as benches.
