Greifswald City Park

The city park, which covers a total of approx. 45 ha, is located in the south-east of the Hanseatic city of Greifswald between the large new development areas Ostseeviertel Parkseite and Schönwalde II.

The project relates to the northern part of the city park between the Ostseeviertel, Schönwalder Landstraße, Pappelallee and the swimming pool. The central area south of the schools of the Ostseeviertel was realized as the first construction phase in 2001/2002. The second construction phase covers the adjoining area in the direction of Schönwalder Landstraße and covers an area of approx. 10 ha. The second construction phase was realized in 2004/2005. The design is based on that of the first construction phase.
As a transition between the recreation area and the city centre as well as between the new development areas Schönwalde II and Ostseeviertel Parkseite, the city park has a connecting and representative function and at the same time serves as a local recreation area.
The entrance areas were upgraded and rearranged in terms of design. The routing and paving of the paths were revised. Furthermore, selective accents were set.
