EXPERIENCE-RICH Redevelopment of the Breitenberg bathing pond
Playground equipment made of acacia and oak wood
In the planning, the intention was to deliberately move away from catalogue items. In a workshop with the well-known wood sculptor Örni Poschmann and the artist Michael Lauss, Breitenberg schoolchildren developed colourfully designed changing rooms with showers and play equipment by the water in an 8th grade project. Some of the wood was obtained by clearing the existing birch trees, which were reused as boards and logs for the new equipment. For example, the sewage ponds were also made accessible with footbridges.

Movement promotion
The artistically designed wooden elements allow creative, free play and a multifaceted conquest of the new bathing environment. Movements such as climbing, swinging, jumping, muddling with water, balancing on wooden walkways were offered in a tailor-made concept for the bathing pond. In addition, the new bathing pond can be used for numerous water sports activities such as kayaking.

Project with exemplary character
The project has a model character due to the participation of the school children of Breitenberg, who developed their new bathing landscape together with an artist, a landscape architect and the local architect. In addition, through close coordination with the Passau Water Management Office, an optimal renovation of the new inflow and outflow was achieved.

Edge zones for filtration and water purification
Play zones for young and old at the stream and sandy beach (e.g. water playground, beach volleyball). Due to the bundling of the play facilities, a problem-free supervision of the children by the parents and companions is possible
