The Old Market spans between the Centre Library and the Museum of Local History in the listed old town of Köpenick.
The square was paved with bands of granite and basalt pavers - a transformation of the historic pavements into a new image. The newly planted gleditschias with their striking yellow autumn colours form an interesting contrast to the red clinker facades of the library and the historic school building.
The garden located behind the public buildings presents itself as an introverted place to stay. Its special quality comes from its location on the water. At the brightest and quietest place of the garden, directly at the water of the Kietzgraben, a place for smaller events, such as readings, was created, lined by loose bands of perennials.
