The Lochness monster in the Ingolstadt quarry pond?
Not really: it is a wholly present, undoubtedly friendly worm that meanders along the shore in front of the house on the lake. With its five coils, sometimes on land, sometimes on water, the DONAUWURM creates bays of varying sizes in which to play, tinker and splash with and in the water. The body of the worm, which changes greatly in width, shape and materiality as it progresses, is the carrier of essential play equipment for children of all ages. On it one can run, clamber, lie in the sun, pump water, dam it up and rinse it through its interior mixed with sand. The five worm loops, are clearly distinguishable from each other in content and texture:
The loops lying in the water are wooden decks of varying width and with a partially sloped surface, and invite movement-oriented play. The loops lying on the land are built of stones and gravel chunks and contain the classic elements of the water playground: pumping, damming and conveying devices for creative play with water.
