Exhibition garden for the 9th International Garden Exhibition and permanent plant for the new park
At a garden exhibition or garden show, gardens are experienced differently than in everyday life. Visitors do not stay long in the same place, usually they only linger for a few minutes. Only in restaurants and cafés do people stay for a while.
The idea is therefore to open up the otherwise mostly introverted garden space and to understand it as a passage with several possibilities for passage. Due to the short realization time
physical elements are chosen for the main structure:
a moving topography,
backdrops of vertically standing stone slabs,
the surprising coolness of veils of mist streaming out from mist nozzles between the slabs in the middle of the garden.
The sparsely used vegetation consists of two layers: Trees with high-set canopies that provide views and plant carpets of perennial grasses, perennials and herbs. Conifers stand on one hill, deciduous trees on the other. The plantings covering the ground are kept neutral, even though the onset of flowering of various species may surprise.
If anyone should wish to linger longer in the garden, they will find benches made of the stone material used for the backdrops.
