The Zippendorf beach promenade is located east of Schwerin's city centre. It is flanked by typical local seaside resort architecture such as beach hotel, city villas, etc.. Due to the existing bathing beach, the beach promenade has a supra-regional importance for the tourism of the city of Schwerin.
In the context of the redesign of the promenade course, the elaboration of the beach path with semi-circular bastions as a pedestrian development with free view of the water, separated from the beach only by a grassy embankment.
The former street "Am Strand" was deconstructed as a mixed traffic area with primary use as a promenade. A mixed traffic area with primary use as a promenade was created; the possibilities for delivery and disposal, for fire brigade approach and rescue vehicles were maintained. Public traffic remains excluded from the areas.
In the area of the bathing beach, the complete beach sand had to be replaced due to missing waste water pipes. As paving materials in the style of the beach sand a yellow clinker was used. The core of the redesign are the 70 columnar oaks in a height of 9m between the promenade and beach path.
