Friedhof Langgöns-Cleeberg, Treppenachse zur Trauerhalle © Norbert Kerl BPG Landschaftsarchitekten
The cemetery of Cleeberg is located at the Oberkleener Straße on a slope that slopes steeply towards the east. The cemetery chapel is located outside the grounds on the Bornweg, which runs to the west, and forms the spatial end of the grounds. The first goal of the redesign was a safe access to all cemetery areas for visitors as well as for the loading of the coffin trolley. This was to be accompanied by an aesthetically sophisticated and economical rearrangement of the grave fields, as well as a barrier-free connection to the mourning hall.
As a central development from the Oberkleener street a straight-line way / stair axis is offered up to close to the mourning hall. Around this axis a step-free way winds itself, which ensures the direct transition to the mourning hall. In the uppermost winding a small seating area is created, which carries a cross sculpture as an orienting feature. Gabions are also used for the terracing of the individual grave fields, which are thus placed in a slightly sloping, easily usable position. The individual gabion slopes are planted with trees and shrubs, creating a calm structure and spatial formation appropriate to the site.
