The Moorflagen primary school on Wagrierweg in Niendorf-Nord is a typical 1960s building complex in a small-town setting. The orthogonally arranged 2-storey school buildings are accessed from the south. A transparent arcade connects both the classrooms and the refectory. The gymnasium and administration building are also connected via an orthogonal network of paths. The landscape along the Kollauwanderweg, which borders the school grounds to the north, has a decisive influence on the character of the northern school grounds. Old groups of trees and meadows continue on the property and create a unique and interesting play and learning landscape in the north of the school grounds.
In the context of the comprehensive renovation of the pipe network, the rainwater and wastewater systems will be renewed. The client's aim is to allow the rainwater to seep away via infiltration trenches and areas on the site. These considerations were incorporated into a sustainable concept by specialist planners. The overriding goal, the guiding idea, is to combine the school as a learning landscape and yet create thematic spaces. The design allows for a lively order with a modular character. It forms a platform for different design scenarios and enables implementation in different temporal horizons.
