Outdoor facilities for the new St. Kilian school centre in Heilbronn

The core of the design for the new school building, which emerged from an architectural competition, is formed by two large forms (sports hall with student canteen and school building) offset against each other. Between them is a noise-protected break zone, which is subdivided into areas for the different age groups. This division is achieved by a recurring arrangement of hedge structures and lawn fields. Large-crowned trees are distributed over the entire break yard.

Four inner courtyards were created in the building, which are assigned to individual subject areas (work yard, school garden with beds, garden for the primary school, garden for the older pupils). In the center is the auditorium of the school. Attached to it is a central courtyard, a quiet and contemplative green interior space.

In addition to the break zone and the courtyards, 70 parking spaces, two small playing fields, a long jump facility and a 100 m running track were created.
