This year, for the first time, we took part in the evaluation by a jury of experts and visitors and were able to take first place.
"Kidney" according to Qi-Gardens
The garden style "Qi-Gardens" combines the style elements of different garden eras. The curved lines in pathways and bed design create a harmonious impression. Horizontal and vertical structures result in a combination of retreats and situations that provide views in and out. This offers protection and security, nature experience and enjoyment. Like a puzzle, Qi-Gardens gardens are composed of existing features and new elements. Influences from European garden and landscape design, Feng Shui aspects, specifications by residents and surroundings, etc. flow in and lead to the individual, unique result.
In our show garden within the framework of the Molecular Gardens of the LGS Giessen, the theme of "water" is integrated representative of all molecules in the form of the source stone. The life forms are symbolized by the kidney bean. The bean stands here for the budding and developing life, the shape of the bean in turn refers to the kidney, which serves the internal purification. For this purpose it also needs water, so that the cycle is closed.
The organic kidney shape of the kidney bean is the inspiration for the harmonious lines of this garden and its elements. In a small space, the garden offers tranquility, activity opportunities, and enjoyment of nature.
A Walk:
The "Kidney Gate" is the northern entrance to the garden. The view is drawn here to the bubbling spring area. To the northeast, a fence topped with vines and roses bounds the garden to the outside. The centre of the garden consists of a quiet lawn. Following the bed of fragrant herbs, the visitor reaches the "tree tunnel" made of crowns of two apple trees. To the southeast, fruit half-trunks serve as a boundary. Now the path leads through the romantic pergola with roses. Here a chess table is integrated and invites to a mental test of strength. In the southwest follows a grass bed with ergonomically designed seating for a rest or a cosy chat. The path continues past a magnolia. Either the visitor leaves "Kidney" through the northwestern entrance or walks along the reflex zone path along the curved wall, lingers on the integrated seating area and enjoys the glistening of the water in the sunlight at the spring area.
