Large aircraft parts are moved for research purposes at the ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research in Hamburg-Finkenwerder. Wide maneuvering areas in front of the hangar buildings remain free of obstacles for this purpose. Their color scheme is based on the markings on taxiways. The central footpath to the main entrance is additionally marked by blue recessed floor lights.
A generous set of steps connects the ZAL with the public promenade along the Steendiek Canal and creates the greatest possible openness.
