The special feature of this project was the unusually strong topographical character of the site for Berlin. The planning height of the outdoor facilities is up to 3 meters above the level of Gleimstraße.

The existing wall to Mauerpark forms a striking spatial edge and, together with the buildings, creates a protected, almost intimate garden courtyard situation. As far as possible, the walls of the former underground car park were to be dismantled and the existing clinker brick wall exposed again. The existing concrete plinth was retained and integrated into the open space planning.

A publicly accessible staircase with an integrated baby carriage and bicycle ramp leads from the small square on Gleimstrasse to the garden courtyard. The height difference to the garden courtyard is highest here at around 3 meters and is cushioned by planted embankments.

The movement areas required for the fire engines form the framework of the garden courtyard and divide it into different areas. The aim of the planning was to integrate the fire department areas into the garden design as harmoniously and unobtrusively as possible.

A sand play area forms the heart and meeting point of the new residential complex. A paved area with table tennis tables is located a reasonable distance from the apartments.
