To further complete the existing "water axis" as an important district and pedestrian axis in the residential area of Jena-Winzerla, the "source area" has been created west of Schrödinger Straße.
For this purpose, the water axis was designed as a defining element between Schrödinger Straße and the parallel service road as a channel made of concrete and natural stone elements, which, framed by a staircase, runs step-like from the spring to the catchment basin. During the frost-free seasons, the water channel is fed with water via a pump circuit. The water that disappears in the catch basin symbolically emerges again in the Sibyl Fountain on the other side of Schrödinger Straße. The "water axis" receives a prelude and an upper conclusion with the spring, which at the same time creates the transition to the open landscape.
