The new church square is located in the historic old town of Templin on Mühlenstraße and is the central station of the archaeological city tour, where visitors have been able to view a selection of sites since 2017.



On the one hand, the square shows the buildings before the town fire in 1735 in an abstract form, with three asymmetrical formal planting areas with pruned yew trees and two natural stone walls made of basalt tracing the edges of the former houses. In addition, the cobbled street that unexpectedly came to light during the construction work was uncovered and incorporated into the design concept. The entire lawn was lowered to the level of the old Mühlenstraße and the transition to the fountain square was formulated with a seating step system. Four lines of large basalt stone paving now refer to the course of the former street. New planting with roses, grasses and linden trees and the large benches round off the ensemble.



The project was closely coordinated with the Lower Monument Authority and accompanied by archaeologists.
