The AachenMünchenerPlatz on Borngasse gives the entire quarter a new urban stepping stone. The AM head office building will have a representative forecourt, the surface of which will be covered with medium-grey, large-format concrete slabs.
By means of irregularly interspersed inlays of stainless steel slabs in the surface of the square, a formal reference to the façade theme of the new building will be taken up and the design unity of the outdoor space and the architecture will be strengthened.
From Marienplatz, a generous flight of steps will lead up to the new square on Borngasse.
The staircase is designed with light-colored concrete steps that are given a free rhythm of gray lines to give the area a charming structure that is visible primarily from the boulevard. The staircase is led like a carpet across Borngasse to the new square, thereby strengthening the overarching inner-city walking line between the station and the city centre.
