The Haus am Weiher is an extension to the listed Wasserhäusl, next to which previously stood a barn. This was replaced by a residential house in wooden solid construction, which meets the criteria of monument protection.
The special location of the Wasserhäusl on a steep slope, with no other buildings in the immediate vicinity, requires a subtle and simple design. The entrance to the private garden is marked by two wooden stelae to the left and right of the driveway. They symbolize a gate that is open to any visitor, but it is clear that one enters private property as soon as one passes between them. The garden on the slope is divided by two natural stone walls, leaving the terrain as original as possible. Surfaces of concrete, chippings and river pebbles are arranged in front of the ensemble of buildings. The choice of materials, the composition of the surfaces in different sizes and the formation of joints support the charm of simplicity.
A concrete block forms the counterpart to the lower-lying house entrance, which is reached by a concrete staircase. The difference in height to the terrace is bridged with flower beds edged with steel and a large water trough.
The Wasserhäusl was part of the Architektouren 2018 and was included in the list of "Häuser des Jahres 2018", Callwey-Verlag DAM Frankfurt. It was also nominated for the DAM Prize 2019.
The outdoor facilities were developed and implemented in close cooperation with Voith Architecture and Urban Planning.
