The area of the former Braugold site in Erfurt is characterised by a heterogeneous building structure with a large number of individual buildings. The north façade of the former production building represents the transition to the monument ensemble, which is offset upwards in height. The long façade of this slope edge shapes the overall impression of the lower area, oriented towards Schillerstraße. We propose to work out this slope edge and to restore the facade below the Schwankhalle according to the historical model. The spaces that are created here, oriented to the north on one side, are to be given a commercial use. We consider a gastronomic business as well as a small retail trade in connection with the residential development to be conceivable. At the level of the former production hall, a new, generous flight of steps connects both levels. The upper, south-facing monument ensemble is oriented towards Robert-Koch-Straße. The intermediate level of the open staircase leads to a further supplementary courtyard development (development area 3), which is thus given an appropriate address without having the character of a backyard. Below the flight of steps, parts of the former production hall will be used for parking. The outbuildings on the site will be dismantled.
