Port of Offenbach - New construction of primary school and day care centre for children

The open spaces of the elementary school and daycare center are divided into two courtyards completely surrounded by buildings. The larger courtyard serves as an outdoor space for the primary school pupils, the smaller courtyard is intended for the children of the day care centre. The courtyards are characterized by an open playable continuous space, which is structured by so-called "play islands". A circumferential band of paving accompanies the building facades as well as the play islands. The colour spectrum of the surfaces is based on the colour tones of the building facades and thus creates a harmonious overall picture.
The schoolyard will be given a uniform surface of lightened asphalt. In the central area, a water-bound cover will be used as the surface of the courtyard. The playground equipment, which is placed on the islands, offers additional movement and play opportunities for the children. In addition, the niches between the building parts projecting into the courtyard are equipped with small playground equipment for use by the individual groups.
