Comprehensive school Melsungen

The comprehensive school is based on a building complex from the 1950s and 1970s. The redevelopment and expansion concept involves removing and refurbishing parts of the building complex, as well as integrating contemporary new buildings into the ensemble and completely redesigning the outdoor facilities.
The demolition, new construction, renovation, and redesign will be accomplished in several construction phases during regular school hours.
The new construction will give the central recess yard distinct spatial edges and form the center of the overall facility. The connection to the lower schoolyards is ensured by a lawn staircase.
This cherry-covered staircase and ramp system takes over the main pedestrian access and at the same time forms an attractive meeting point between the break yard and the play and sports facilities on the lower level of the school grounds.
