The newly created Lake Wiley serves as a storm water retention area as well as for the extraction of service and fire water and is an important design element that gives the site a distinctive identity.
The property is located in the area of the Wiley site, a former barracks area of the American armed forces, in Neu-Ulm. The building structure of the University of Applied Sciences clearly separates the landscape from the urban space.
North of the building is the newly created Wiley Lake, with a water surface of approximately 4,500 m². It is used for rainwater retention. Accumulating precipitation from all paved areas is discharged into the lake. In addition to the service and fire water extraction, the lake represents an important design element that creates a distinctive identity for the site.
South of the building are the necessary parking spaces, covered with a dense tree canopy of sycamore trees. An existing public green corridor in a north-south direction is continued on the site in the form of a moving, wave-like lawn modelling and runs out in a northerly direction towards the landscape.
