The inner courtyard is seen as an important event space. It is an open-air stage, theatre backdrop, outdoor foyer, festival area, music room and much more.
The existing stone walls of the historic buildings are juxtaposed with two new spatial edges in the form of a movable metal mesh curtain. The result is a volume of space enclosed on all sides, which adds a new dimension to the interaction of the historic building ensemble.
The newly created space is traced by an angular seating furniture, and is also clarified by the chosen flooring. In analogy to the theme of the tithe, this is derived from stalks of grain, which are depicted as an abstracted pattern in the colour nuance of the paving.
The newly added "outdoor furniture" consisting of a curtain and bench takes up further functions in addition to the spatial closure of the courtyard, including lighting, use as a projection surface and screen, and the possibility of staying and lingering outdoors. Within the newly created space, the positioning of a temporary stage is possible at any point, depending on requirements.
