A modern sports and play park. Structurally clear, with cool aesthetics and atmospherically exciting.
The Hafenpark in Frankfurt's east forms the end of the green and promenade of the Main embankment and the connection to the green belt. For the city of Frankfurt, it represents the people's park of the 21st century.
The rough structure of the park is conceived on a large scale: the visual relationships between Honsellbrücke and the skyline of the city centre and the reference to the new ECB high-rise are imprinted in the design as a concise sports band. With this primary setting, a sequence of contrasting park spheres is created.
The "concrete jungle" on Eyssenstraße is one of the largest skate parks in Europe at 5,000 m². It is intended as an open component of the park. The planting with grasses and hackberry trees give it a green character. In the sports strip, steel trellises give the playing fields the atmosphere of arenas, and the play and fitness areas are embedded in vegetation. Towards the Main promenade, quiet zones and natural development areas are created on clod-like meadow plateaus.
The park programme is the result of an online survey by the City of Frankfurt.
