Concepts and planning for solutions for the greening of the
street space while preserving parking spaces.
In Stuttgart's inner city, with its basin location, particulate matter pollution is becoming increasingly
problematic. An additional burden for the city residents are
the high temperatures in summer. The Stöckach district is located within the
area with very high particulate pollution.
The Stöckach green project is located in the Stuttgart redevelopment area S29 and aims
to transform the street space
by means of temporary measures that can be implemented quickly
through mobile urban greenery, portable greening elements, urban farming
projects, mobile parklets and much more, towards a new green urban space with
more quality of stay.
In addition to the short-term green interventions, there are long-term goals, which, through
supplementary and new greening, as well as unsealing measures, should increasingly transform the
traffic space into high-quality recreational and green spaces
with a variety of offers.
Through citizen participation, the individual measures are accompanied, anchored in the
residents and implemented. This will result in an upgraded
public space and identity-creating open space for the neighborhood.
At the same time, the measures represent an important contribution to the urban climate
improvement.
