In Kolonnenstraße in Berlin-Schöneberg, STADT UND LAND Wohnbauten GmbH converted a building with commercial use into a high-quality residential building in 2014. In the course of this, the inner courtyard, which provides access to the residential building, was also redesigned. The inner courtyard is a three-sided rear courtyard in the second row. An approx. 2 m high wall encloses the fourth side of the courtyard.
The central design element is two planting islands, which not only keep the degree of sealing of the courtyard area as low as possible, but also create an attractive living environment for the residents through harmonious and varied planting. Shade-tolerant perennials, grasses and ferns with contrasting leaf textures and flowering aspects were selected for a lively planting. The planting islands are framed by a yellow clinker brick, similar to the building façade, and thus stand out from the black clinker pavement of the other paths. The movement areas for the fire brigade were integrated into the design.
Black semi-circular planters, bollard lights and two special play elements with a learning effect for small children complete the design.
