The large housing estate Gropiusstadt was built between 1962 and 1975 in the south of Berlin. Since then, the demands on open spaces have changed and the existing facilities need to be revised. Design guidelines and a lighting concept from degewo AG form the framework within which the planning and execution of the Agnes-Straub-Weg/Neuköllner Straße BA1 section will be carried out. All measures are being carried out to a simple and robust standard that blends in with the existing building and the other sections.
Entrance areas will be made barrier-free. Slab paths will be renovated and designed to allow the fire department to drive over them. Existing play areas for small children will be upgraded and designed with simple play equipment. Once the residential buildings have been renovated, the front gardens will be replanted and lawns laid out.
The renewal of the lighting is of particular importance. Simple models of bollard lights and light steles can be used to increase the safety of the site at night.
