Katzlerstrasse Redesign of the open space and play area of a public square

The construction project deals with the redesign of the leisure and sports areas on the corner of Katzlerstrasse and Yorckstrasse. The areas are connected to a heavily urbanized city square, which is subject to heavy through traffic. In addition, there is increased soiling of the areas by strangers and user groups. This increased user pressure has led to overuse and a resulting loss of amenity and user quality.



A particular requirement was the preservation of the existing ball fence and the objective of upgrading the existing ball playing areas. The aim of the measure is to improve the usability and design of the areas.



In the course of the preliminary design and draft planning, the users/residents were involved in the decision-making processes in a participation process in the form of an ideas workshop. The participation process was supervised and implemented by hochC Landschaftsarchitekten in collaboration with the SPAS AG neighborhood management and the green spaces department.
The construction project is funded by the "Socially Integrative City" program. The program year is 2015.
