The experience of the open space increases the creativity of the children. The schoolyard is one of the most formative places in the lives of children and young people.
The urban design of the new Tor zur Welt education centre shapes many different open spaces for the different demands and needs of their users. These range from the central agora bridging Krieterstrasse to schoolyards and sports areas to the biotope made tangible by a nature trail. Thus toddlers find their open space with sand and water play, school children play and sports areas, a climbing wall and table tennis tables, parents and adults rest areas, a parents' café as well as space for events and, in addition, the biotope as a common green space for all ages. When designing the open spaces, the focus is always on the experience of the open space. The children's creativity should be stimulated - an exchange between them and their environment should take place.
