The site directly at Südkreuz station next to the two newly planned commercial buildings is planned as a publicly accessible town square with a large green area.
Architecturally, a 7-storey solitary building and a block building with an atrium are planned here, whose first floor areas facing the square can be rented out as commercial and restaurant units.
The design plays with the theme of heights. Green plateaus of different heights slide into the square like clods. With a height difference of 15 to 60 cm, areas with different qualities are created - café terrace, picnic lawn, meadow area under trees. The plateaus are intercepted by retaining walls, some of which are fitted with wooden seating, which in turn invite people to linger.
The paved square area is designed with concrete block paving.
3 different formats in 2 different shades of gray are used in a wild formation.
23 new trees will be planted in the green planting plateaus on the site.
The green areas will be designed with shrub plantings of different heights, which will create a varied flowering pattern and also provide ecological benefits for insects and birds.
