The aim of the design for the citizens' garden in Templin is to raise sunken places and add active places of experience. The vital trees and shrubs, the meadow areas and the numerous pathways form the basis for a sustainable redesign. The tree-lined meadow on Parkstrasse will remain free of structural interventions to allow the depth of the park to be experienced.
The north-eastern slope areas with trees, copses, toboggan run, steps and terraces with excellent views of the historic old town of Templin were considered to be particularly valuable.
A new, three-metre-wide, barrier-free path leads from Parkstrasse across the canal meadows to the forest avenue at the parking lot and provides access to the adventure areas.
Two terraces with a height difference of 4 meters protrude from the meadow slope and offer space for fitness and play activities. In addition to a fun run balancing course for all generations, there is exercise equipment in line with the latest sports science findings.
An interesting adventure play landscape has been created on the upper terrace. Here, children can climb, slide and swing over net bridges, play nets and tree bridges. The framed seating areas offer a view of the historic old town. A sand play area, a nest swing and a carousel are available for the little ones.
The historic heart of the "Bürgergarten" is the 750 m² pond with its spring bed and rhododendron slope. The pond was cleaned from the ground up and cleared of encroaching wild growth. The concrete edge was renovated. A water feature forms the eye-catcher and circulates the water.
The adjoining avenue of lime trees to the south leads into the forest park. A clearing opens up at the end of the avenue, which has been enhanced with a "Forest Gate" play sculpture in the form of abstracted Templin city gates made of wood with a bridge and slide.
